My Endometriosis Surgery & Recovery

My Endometriosis Surgery & Recovery

Almost four weeks ago I had a laparoscopy which is a keyhole surgery used to examine or operate on, in my case, the source of pelvic pain.

My surgery was to inspect inside my pelvis and excise endometriosis (if found), and I also had a mirena IUD inserted while I was under.

I decided rather than doing a standard blog post about my surgery (which probably would have been three thousand words), I’d switch it up a little bit and vlog my recovery!

This is my first go at something like this, so I’d love if you checked it out!

From 0:59-2:15 I have the IV needle in my hand, if that makes you uncomfortable

So from the last clip to now I am feeling better… I’m still exhausted and my body gets sore very quickly but that just is what it is.

I’ve had my first flare up since surgery, so that wasn’t fun but it wasn’t as bad as they have been in the past so I’m taking that as a good sign!

And as for finding out what was found during surgery and moving toward a diagnosis… I have a post op appointment scheduled and it’s coming up and I’m clearly looking forward to that.

There was a few things I mentioned in the video that you might want to know more about so I’ll list them below:

  • Referred pain- during the laparoscopy carbon dioxide gas is used to inflate the abdomen. Following the surgery pain from the pressure of the gas is often felt in the shoulders and down into the chest. More information about this and other post-op symptoms can be found here.
  • Love Luna period underwear can be found on their website or in the feminine care section in Woolworths.
  • Information on the mirena IUD and its use as hormone therapy for endometriosis here.
  • More information about laparoscopy and endometriosis can be found here.

Hope you enjoyed this little switch up, let me know what you thought!
